We are very glad to have Aspen here at Aruzia.  His dam Finessa won BOB at the Borzoi Club of America's National Specialty in 2011.  His sire, our own Frosty, has been ranked in the top 10 for 2009-2013 with several specialty wins.  Aspen and his only littermate, CH Konza-Plum Creek Aston Martin, are a lovely blend of their parents, combining some very nice bloodlines.  CH Konza-Plum Creek Aston Martin won Best In Sweepstakes at the 2013 Borzoi Club of America's National Specialty, and finished with 3 majors, with owner Kay Cassella.

Aspen's journey to his Championship:    July 26, 2013 was Aspen's first show. At the Borzoi Club of California Specialty, judge Shirley McFadden selected him for RWD from the 6 - 9 month puppy class.  Aspen was always handled by Lorrie.

August 10, 2013, Aspen won his first point, going Winners Dog from the 9 - 12 month class, at the South Bay kennel club show, judge Barbara Rupert.

January 3, 2014, Aspen won BOS in the puppy sweepstakes at the Inland Empire Hound Club show, judge Janice Pardue. Aspen is pictured winning Best in Sweepstakes at the 2014 Rocky Mountain Borzoi Club's specialty show, in Colorado, February 15, judge Steve Sims. Also at the Specialty, Aspen won first in the 12 - 18 month class, judge Patricia Murphy.

March 30, 2014 at the Kern County CA show, Aspen won a 4 point major from the 12 - 18 month class, judge Rita Briddle

April 8, 9 and 10, at the 2014 Borzoi Club of America National Specialty in New Mexico, Aspen won first in a large sweepstakes class, won second out of 8 in the 12-18 month regular class, and won first place in his futurity class. May 23 & 24, at the San Gabriel Valley California shows.  Aspen won Winners Dog both days for a total of 3 points, judges Leslie Hiltz and Suzanne Dillin. September 27, 2014,   Aspen won a 3 point major at the Bonanza Kennel Club of Carson City show, judge Del Richards. April 4, 2015 Aspen won a point at the Apple Valley show, judge Rita Biddle. April 18, 2015, Aspen won 2 points to finish his championship with Best of Breed over specials at the Amgeles Canyon show, judge Helen Stein.

Aspen's career as a Special: April 19, Aspen was shown as a special for the first time, and won BOB for a 3 point GCH major over specials, at the Angeles Canyon show, judge Polly Smith.  May 30, 2015, Aspen won Best of Breed over 16 borzoi for 5 GCH points, at the Kennel Club of Pasadena show, judge Robert Frost.  June 13 & 14, 2015, Aspen won Best of Breed both days over specials at the Bahia Sur shows, for two 3 point majors, judges Robert Robinson and Sara Tietjen.  Pictured July 25, 2015, Aspen won an Award of Merit at the Borzoi Club of California's specialty show, judge Paula Nykiel.

August 8 & 9, 2015, at the two South Bay California shows, Aspen won Best of Breed both days, for two 3 point majors, judges Robert Robinson and Stephen Hubbell. September 12, 2015, at the Santa Ana Valley show, Aspen won BOB for 3 points, and Best Owner Handled and then on to a NOHS (National Owner Handled) Group I, judge Harold Tatro III (pictured).

September 13, 2015, at the Santa Ana Valley show, Aspen won Select Dog for 1 point, judge K. Levison. October 24 & 25, Aspen won BOB both days, for two 4 point majors, to finish his Grand Championship at the Kennel Club of Riverside shows, judges Pamela Peat and Ralph Ambrosio. December 5 & 6, 2015, at the Shoreline shows, Aspen won BOB both days, for a 3 point major and a 4 point major, judges Sharon Lyons and David Bolus. Aspen finished 2015 ranked #14 breed system with 96 borzoi defeated.

January 8, 2016, at the Inland Empire Hound specialty show, judge Dr A. Todd Miller gave Aspen an Award of Merit. January 9, at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs show, Aspen won BOB over 30 borzoi for a 5 point major, judge Sharon Krough and won a Group 2, judge Howard Yost. January 30, at the Orange Empire Dog Club show, Aspen won BOS for 2 points, judge Carol Spritzer. February 12, Aspen won Best of Opposite Sex for 3 GCH points over 3 male specials at the Plum Creek Colorado show, judge Claire Steidel. February 13, 2016 Aspen was awarded Best of Breed at the Rocky Mountain Borzoi Club's specialty show, over 39 borzoi, under breeder judge Amy Sorbie (pictured).

February 27 and 28, at the Silver Bay kennel club of San Diego shows, Aspen won BOS both days, for two 4 point majors, judges Judy Webb and Pluis Davern. March 19, Aspen won Select Dog for 3 points, at the Del Sur show. September 11, 2016, at the Santa Ana show, Aspen won BOS over 4 male specials for 2 points, judge Joe Walton, and a NOHS Group 3, judge Chris Kaser. September 24, 2016, at the San Luis Obispo show, judge Gay Dunlap selected Aspen for BOB and 4 points, and Best Owner Handled. Aspen also won NOHS Group 1 under judge Eric Leibes, and on to NOHS Best In Show under judge Gay Dunlap. September 25, Aspen won Select Dog for 2 points, judge Eric Leibes, at the San Luis Obispo show. October 29, 2016, Aspen won BOB over 7 specials including the #1 borzoi, for 4 points, at the Kennel Club of Riverside show, judge Elena Edwards. The next day, Aspen won BOB for 5 points, and Group 1 under Andrea Bradford (pictured), and won NOHS Group 1, judge Norman Kenney, and NOHS Best In Show, judge Shalisa Neely.

November 5 & 6, 2016 Aspen won BOS over 4 male specials for 2 points at the San Gabriel Valley show judge Eva Berg, and BOS over 2 male specials at the Antelope Valley show, for 3 points, judge Christine Erickson. December 2, 2016 at the Yuma AZ show, Aspen won Select Dog and Best Owner Handled, judge Timothy Catterson and NOHS Group 2, judge Thomas Parrotti. Aspen finished 2016 rankedd #7 all-breed with 652 dogs defeated.

January 6, 2017 at the Inland Empire Hound show, judge Ron Lukins, awarded Aspen Select Dog for 5 points. January 7, at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs show, judge Robert Paust, awarded Aspen Best of Breed over 45 borzoi (15 specials and 30 class borzoi) for 5 points, owner handled by Lorrie Scott. February 26 Aspen finished his Bronze Grand Championship at the Silver Bay show, judge June Penta, by going Select Dog over 3 male specials, for 2 points. March 18, at the Del Sur kennel club show in Valley Center CA, Borzoi Club of California TSE, judge Pamela Lambie selected Aspen BOS for a 3 point major over 6 male specials. March 19, at the Del Sur kennel club show, Borzoi Club of California TSE, judge Beverly Capstick selected Aspen BOS for 3 GCH points over 4 male specials. April 1, at the Kern county show, Aspen won Best of Breed for 5 points, judge Timothy Robbins, and Hound Group 2, judge Donavon Thompson. The next day, Aspen won Best of Breed, judge Robert Paust, and Hound Group 1, judge Timothy Robbins. April 15, Aspen won Select Dog for a 4 point major over specials, at the Western Hound Association of Southern California specialty show, judge Mara Mercer. April 29 at the Lake Mathews kennel club show, Aspen won BOS over a male special for 1 point, judge Anne Katona. The next day, Aspen won BOB and a Hound Group 2 uner judge Hal Biermann. June 30, Aspen won BOS over male specials for 3 points at the Ventura county show, judge Amy Sorbie. Aspen also passed his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title. July 1, Aspen won Best of Breed for 5 points at the Burbank show, judge Ms Gay Dunlap. July 2, Aspen won BOS over male specials for 4 points, at the Burbank kennel club show, judge Meghann Fenn. July 7, at the Channel City show, Aspen won BOS for 1 point and Best Owner Handled, judge Jon Cole, and NOHS Group 1, judge Dale Simmons, and NOHS Reserve Best In Show, judge Jon Cole. The next day, Aspen won BOS for 1 point, judge Dale Simmons. September 9, at the Santa Ana Valley show, Aspen won BOB for 4 points, and NOHS Group 3, judge Mrs Donnelle Richards. The next day, Aspen won BOS for 2 points, judge Del Richard, and NOHS Group 4, judge Joyce Vanek. September 23 & 24, 2017 Aspen won Best of Breed both days, for 2 points and 3 points, at the Prescott Arizona shows, judges Paula Nykiel and Gloria Geringer. He also won NOHS Group 4, Sepember 24, judge Beth Speich. September 25, 2017, Aspen won Best of Breed, judge Eva Berg at the Kachina Arizona show, and on to a NOHS Group 4. judge Robert Robinson. September 30 & October 1, at the four Arizona White Mountain shows (2 shows per day), Aspen wins BOB at all 4 shows, for 1 point each win, judges Denny Mounce, Del Richards, David Peat and Mrs Donnelle Richards. Aspen also won NOHS Group 3, judge Donna Buxton, and NOHS Group 2, judge Del Richards, and Group 4, judge David Peat and NOHS Group 2, judge David Alexander. Aspen finished 2017 ranked #13 breed system with 130 borzoi defeated, and #7 all-breed with 427 dogs defeated. Aspen was the #1 Borzoi in the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS) with Lorrie.

Shown only once during 2018, Aspen won Best of Breed at the Borzoi Club of California independent specialty July 5, 2018, judge Pamela Lambie. As always, Aspen was handled by Lorrie.

Aspen retired in 2018 with 159 GCH points, 35 GCH majors and 46 wins over specials. He is pictured relaxing at his home, in the shade, on a hot July day.

Aspen's children: Aspen is the sire  CH Aruzia Flying Solo  from the 2016 breeding to Opal. Aspen is also the sire of  four females  from the 2018 breeding to Vivian.

Aapen passed away October 23, 2020, from a bleeding tumor in his heart, diagnosed as hermangiosarcoma (a common cancer in canines).
